1st QUARTER MOON in Capricorn - 10/20/15: Moon~Coaching™ Step 3 of 8 for Libra Moonth, 2015
As MoonCoach™, I will act as your guide on this Lunar Journey, guiding you through each lunar phase during the Libra Moonth, prompting you to pull a Tarot or Oracle card, and journal on the related themes. Rememer there are 8 phases in each cycle, and you may wish to review my first post explaining each of the lunar phases as it relates to your goal setting & intentions. As I've posted before, each lunar phase portal allows us to work with its energy, amplified by the Zodiac sign in which the Moon finds herself, and attuned to YOU via your astrological chart. However, let's leave the explanation about your chart for another time. For now, let us focus on the 1st quarter phase, and pulling a card to be your Ally for this 3rd portal.
Today we continue with the 1st QUARTER Moon phase, pulling a Tarot card to give us InSight into the necessary actions for Step 3 in the current moonth. I will pull a card for the Collective Consciousness reading this blog (which includes YOU). For the 1st Quarter phase in Capricorn, I am choosing to work with the Wildwood Tarot deck.
First let's consider a few key words for the 1st Quarter Moon phase:
Taking Action, Grounding, Putting Down Deep Roots, Make It or Break It part of the cyle
And next, a few key words for Capricorn:
Legacy, Tradition, Will Power, Strength of Character, Leadership, Practicality, Climbing to the top, Commitment to the Ultimate Goal, Success, Conviction of Purpose, Applied Wisdom.

Card Image I pulled for this lunar phase:
This card (combined with the Capricorn 1st quarter energy) gives us the necessary courage to forge ahead with purposeful actions in order to accomplish our Libra Seed Intention (remember that card was JUSTICE). Reread my Step 1/Libra New Moon post if you need to reconnect to the ideas we are working on throughout the entire moonth.
The Great Bear is Major Arcana 20 (traditionally called Judgment), bringing attention to any fears we may have lurking in the depths of our mind/soul as we 'turn the corner' during the 1st quarter phase. The phase itself requires somewhat of a 'do or die' attitude, being a turning point in the lunar cycle. Symbolically, it is here that we need to decide if we have what it takes to move forward...much like the little seedling in the Earth that HAS TO PUSH WITH ALL ITS MIGHT TO BREAK THROUGH THE TOPSOIL TO SURVIVE. Only after we have done this, can we get closer to the success promised by the upcoming Full phase. So, as we add Capricorn to the mix, we are further urged to muster all our strength and conviction, looking ahead toward the larger goal, remembering that we are guided by something greater than ourselves, and that in facing this turning point, we are supported by the Unseen Allies, the Ancestors, the Guides that have gone before who are spiritual mentors. Be brave, and move through this phase!
This particular depiction of Arcana 20 is very powerful! Consider that in Animal Medicine the bear is a protective force, always caring for her young, and doing what is necessary for their survival. Likewise, we need to 'protect' our seed intention, the one we individually and collectively set at the Libra New Moon, and make sure that we tend to this tender vision with great care. In noticing the imagery of this card, we can't help but feel trepidation and some fear. So, again, noting the 1st quarter is the 'do or die' phase, we need to face our fear, be willing to confront our limitations, or rather, what we believe to be limitations. FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real. Just like in the image, the Great Bear is a Gate Guardian...APPARENTLY threatening us, but in reality, challenging us, as in the Buddhist traditional paintings, the 'demons' at the gates that lead to the heavenly realms tempt us to run away and cower in our fears, when what they really are, are apparitions of our own mental constructs, set to help us move beyond their immaterial facade. So, ARE YOU READY?
What lays for you beyond that gateway? What treasure awaits you, if you but DARE to move forward? Can you break through the topsoil that would otherwise crush your growing dream? WILL YOU?
The Great Bear also refers to the constellation and frequency of Sirius, said to be a divine world that has been guiding Earth/Gaia's greatest heros and heroines so that we can all ascend into a Greater Reality. If you are galactically inclined, allow the Sirian Council to flow it's powerful frequencies into your Crown Chakra today and over the next few days while we are in this 1st quarter portal. You don't have to 'understand' it for it to be true...it IS, just open to receive.
The traditional meaning of Arcana 20, Judgement, is that of an AWAKENING, a CALL from Spirit to leave the 'box' of our dreary existance, in order to ascend to Higher Ground. And at the 1st quarter in Capricorn, we can see this as a Call to courageously wake up to the Wisdom of our Ancestors (genetic and spiritual ones) who still speak to us, who live in us, who wish to INSPIRE US through the Wisdom of the Stars (Astrology?), or through whichever medium best resonates with you. The Great Bear in this case is our Ally, saying: Come forth and step through...I'll watch your back and keep you safe, as you take the necessary actions toward the accomplishment of your Dream/Goal/Intention. She is setting up Sacred Space, SAFE space, for YOU!
From a practical perspective, use this energy to take STRONG, WILLFUL ACTIONS. Do not hesitate to knock out everything on your to-do list (the one you created at the Crescent Phase a few days ago). You may need to call on a trusted friend to continue this Journey, someone who supports your Intention, and has full faith in your ability to accomplish it. An Ally who will CALL YOU OUT when you are giving in to weakness, doubt or fear. The One who will encourage you to step int your Power!
In retrospect, as I consider the previous card for the Crescent phase, there was an element of the need for caution, where as here, we can feel a similar need for protection and safety. This impels me to ask if collectively, those who are reading this blog, feel some trepidation regaring our Libra New Moon intention - remembering that together with the Justice card, it was about creating Balance in our lives, including bringing greater clarity and equality in all our Relationships. It requires Honesty, and this can bring up fear of loss, which is always an Illusion anyways. No energy is ever lost, we only transform...and perhaps it's how we transform the way to relate to others. So, create a space of loving honesty for yourself as you venture forward, and continue to focus on that special New Moon intention that you/we set on October 12. We are turning the proverbial corner, and still have a ways to go.
Now let's take a look at the description of this card, directly from the deck’s book:
“MEANING: Fear of death and damnation have mutated into a distorted view of the card k nown traditionally as Judgement, as a calling of righteous souls from their graves by an angel on Judgement Day. But the universe is much simpler than religious theologies would have it. The laws of evolution and cause and effect have more to do with diving judgement than human morals. If, on a personal level, life is squandered in the pursuite of vainglories and pretentious ambition, the painful voice left within an individual's soul will make itself known through despair and frustration. On the earthly or universal sperhere, if we abuse the ecostystem and lay waste to world resources, nature will fina a way to redress the balance by its own evolutionary means. Nature is not vindictive, just practical. By the same token, if time is spent educating and understanding ourselves, this investment in wisdom will help us live our lives with a deeper respect for all humanity and nature. Life will be enriched by the joy and beauty of the universe. The Great Bear is the guardian of the forest ways, and hold the power of life and death over those who transgress its lawas. After experiencing the stages of being stripped and laid bare, the initiate experiences renewed strength and wisdom and is reborn into a place of quiet stillness, peace and rest that allows the healing process to be completed. The new, whole, reconstituted person lies hibernating, full of potential, ready to meet the coming spring with energy and joy .
READING POINTS: The only thing in life that is assured is that if yo uwait long enough, it will change. How you survive that change and who you are after it is up to you. The major element in this process is judgemnt of yourself and others. This may relate to an assessment regarding a personal matter or situation, and could be linked to the process of forgiving. It may also relate to a group or social decision. In the process of judgement, both as an individual and on the universel level, honesty is the key. Be honest, be forgiving, be patient, but most of all, be assured change is at hand. Remember, the universe has a long memory. Nothing is ever forgotten”
So, to recap, at time this 3rd phase during the Libra Lunar Moonth, take action based on an honest assessement of where you currently find youself, where you want to be, and what fears or judgements may be holding you back.
Bring back to mind the 3 cards we have so far for this Libra Moonth, and combine the meaning of the cards, phases and signs:
At the new phase being step 1 (of the 8), Justice showed up to remind us to consider what is out of balance in our lives, as well as setting intentions that create Beauty and Harmony in our lives, and heal our Relationships. This all echoes the meaning of Libra since this 7th sign like Justice, is about clarity of thought in accomplishing balance, grace, and fairness with all our Relations.
At the crescent phase being step 2, we get pen and paper and plot out our 'how-to' and 'to-do' listing our ideas and potential action steps to accomplish the New Moon Intention. The 7 of swords tells us to be mindful and careful with this list, as well as sharing with our most trusted Allies what we are planning, in order to mainting our Seed Intention within the safety of our delicate cocoon of energetic nurturance. And Sagittarius reminds us to consider rewriting the script of or belief system if these are not in support of our goals/intention.
At the 1st quarter phase, step 3, we need to assess how far we've come, what judgements we hold in our hearts, either to ourselves, or for others. We call in our Ancestors and Allies for strength and will power to face these judgements, and the fears we may harbour about loss. And we take ACTION towards forgiving ourselves, others, and from this renewed sense of Self, we step forward through the gate, leaving strong roots of self-acceptance at this crossroads.
So far, we notice that even using 3 different Tarot decks, there is a resonance, a pattern, appearing regarding judgement, justice and fairness. These are powerful key words, and even more powerful concepts of which we need to take heed if we are to live our lives more purposefully and authentically!
ADDENDUM: One final piece to consider for those of you that wish to go even deeper, is the Sabian Symbol for the exact astrological degree of this 1st quarter phase: "A large aviary." I get the visual image in my Mind's Eye of somethig like that old horror movie 'The Birds.' I HATED that film whenever it came on as a rerun on TV! I was just a little girl, maybe 3 or 4 years old in Los Angeles, and it gave me the creeps big time. The thought of it still does - knowing it's symbolic of course, for all those negative thoughts, crippling ideas, limiting beliefs, that continually run through our minds, never letting up! It's that constant recycling of old voices that play us against our own Innate Beauty (remember, owing our own Beauty is part of the Libra Intention!). So, what do those voice say in your head? Aren't you tired of them? Even those of us that have been doing the self-introspective work, the empowerment seminars and the like - what old tapes have you STILL been playing? Maybe the large aviary can be transformed, into Songs of Beauty?
So, now, it's YOUR turn! How are you going to apply this guidance to your goals/intention?
I will check back at the Gibbous Phase on October 24th, and pull another card to guide us through that part of the Cycle, when will will meet the Moon in Pisces.
Feel free to contact me with questions, suggestions, InSights and your thoughts.
